Tedeschi Trucks Band will do a long awaited debut in Norway as they play Notodden Blues Festival 2013. The Grammy winning 11 man band led by Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks is one of the hottest names on the US bluesrock-scene these days. Also in August, Eric Burdon will pay another visit to the biggest bluesfestival in Norway. Burdon releases a CD this week, and will be keynote speaker plus playing shows in Austin, TX, USA during the SXSW-festival next week.
As a member of the British band The Animals, Burdon rose to fame in the 1960's with his powerful vocals on their massive hit 'House of the Rising Sun'. He was also a member of the band War. Eric Burdon is also a member of the exclusive Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame. He was inducted in 1994 with The Animals.
Meanwhile Tedeschi Trucks band received a Grammy award for their début album 'Revelator' in 2011, and was nominated again this year for the follow-up 'Everybody's Talkin''. Susan Tedeschi has also been nominated 4 times as a solo artist, while Derek Trucks received a Grammy for his latest soloalbum 'Already Free' in 2010.
Despite his young age, Derek Trucks has become a veteran in the music business, with not only a successful solo career, but also as a member of The Allman Brothers Band since 1999, as well as being ranked at #16 in the Rolling Stone Magazine list of '100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time'. He also the only one on that list younger than 50 years of age.
Derek Trucks will be doing his second gig in Norway when appearing at Notodden Blues. Back in 2006 he was part of the band accompanying Eric Clapton when 'Slowhand' played the land of the Vikings.
Jostein Forsberg, of Notodden Blues Festival comments:
- It feels good to present Tedeschi Trucks Band on our festival. We've tried for years to get them across the pond. Actually we started our attempts with Susan Tedeschi just after year 2000, and Tedeschi Trucks Band ever since they started playing in 2010. Now we have finally succeeded. It's very satisfying for us to once again confirm another big name to the bill. Forsberg also adds that Eric Burdon is added to the bill again due to a revitalized career and he is trending these days - he's on a high and we want to share that with our audience.
Both Tedeschi Trucks Band and Eric Burdon will play together on the Bryggescenen at Notodden, Saturday, August 3. For ticket purchase check www.bluesfest.no.
Other artists that have been confirmed so far for the Notodden Blues Festival are John Mayall, Royal Southern Brotherhood, Charlie Musselwhite, Valkyrien Allstars and Norsk Utflukt. More additions will be published as they are confirmed. August 1 to 4 is the dates of Notodden Blues.
