The European Blues Challenge

The Norwegian Blues Union (NBU) and The European Blues Union (EBU) invite Norwegian blues artists to participate in the newly formed European competition for blues artists, The European Blues Challenge. The idea for the contest, held in Berlin in March 2011, is from the International Blues Challenge held every year by The Blues Foundation in Memphis, USA.

At the European Union's blues conference in Spain in June 2010 it was decided that the European countries will work together to host a blues band competition in Berlin the second weekend of March 2011. In the competiotion it will be one band from each of the participating nations. The winner will be invited to play at five leading festivals in Europe, and to be well promoted in connection with these concerts.

The European Blues Challenge is looking for serious blues artists and bands who want to expand their career.
Criteria for participation:
- Have played on one or more national blues festivals
- Have released or will this year be releasing album
- The artist(s) must have priority to invest in their career and future as a blues artist.

Norwegian Blue Union, which is responsible for selecting a Norwegian representative to the EBC, encourage Norwegian blues artists and blues bands to show their interest and submit an application.
Applications (or proposals on Norwegian blues artists) must be sent to NBU / Blue News before October 5. Include a brief presentation of the band and link to a soundtrack.
