Many highlights and magic moments were presented from the main stage "Magic Mirror" at this year's Blues in Hell. On Friday Roffe Wikström, Omar & The Howlers, Bernie Marsden and Dana Gillespie ruled. Saturday it was the New Yorkers Popa Chubby (picture) and Chris Bergson, and not to forget soul diva Bettye LaVette, who gave the audience great moments.
And we have not even mentioned names like Sherman Robertson and German BB & The Blues Shacks, who also made great performances on the main stage Saturday. There were as many as five top acts both nights!
Festival boss Kjell Inge Brovoll had a very busy weekend, a weekend with many highlights. He was quite pleased when we met him Sunday morning at Rica Hell Hotel.
- Friday was surprisingly well attended. Roughly we sold 1700 tickets. It means that we are likely to land on a profit of between 50.000 and 100.000 Norwegian kroner, "explains Brovoll with a smile: - Magic Mirror is the festival's main attraction, and at the Magic Mirror the first attractions are already booked for next year.
- Still there are a few things remaining before conclusions can be drawn. The sale of alcohol at the festival area. Sale of effects. The beautiful Blues in Hell-shirts were reported to sell quite good, but we do not have all the numbers yet. In addition, the U.S. dollar also come in consideration.
So far we have not even mentioned some of the goodies that were served from the acoustic scene. Also here the audience was served a five course menu both Friday and Saturday. John Hammond, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Barry Cuda, Roy Book Binder and all the others must have us excused.
